Country #50 – Guatemala Part III: The Kids

In this, my penultimate post about my time in Guatemala, I thought I’d share with you a few shots of the lovely kids I met. Most of them were poor, scrappy and bare footed (except this first cool dude) but they were happy, thoughtful and always smiling. It’s not always the beautiful scenery and interesting cultures we experience when traveling that we remember most, but often it’s the people we meet. And these great kids were having such fun that their smiles will stay with me a long time.

"You talking to me?"

“You talking to me?”

And then there was this. On the shore of Lake Atitlan this adorable kid tried his hand at fishing after watching his older brother with a bucket. Dunking his cup, he took a quick look to see if he had a fish, then promptly threw it out and started again. And then there was the stand off with the strange man with a camera.

These lads helped me find an elusive restaurant, and we’re very grateful when I bought them a drink to thank them.
