Last summer Leslie and I spent an amazing 10 days on a quick tour of Sri Lanka. There were many highlights, but perhaps the greatest day of all was our elephant safari at Udawalawe National Park. With beautiful and wild scenery to begin with we were already enthralled. There were almost zero other tourists across the entire national park, thus it was perfectly quiet, and just seeing one or two of the magnificent animals would have been perfect. But we saw dozens, and they were happy, healthy and untouched by human activity. We never got too close, however, they were happy to wander over to check out the strange humans. It was a magical experience, and one we’ll never forget. With hundreds of great photos to choose from, I’ve selected a few of the more charismatic black and white ones. I hope you like them, and that you get a sense of what an unreal time we had. Can’t recommend Sri Lanka enough. Enjoy!
